The Forgotten

A place of peace and tranquility where the wind blows through the trees and all around the angels dance in front of you.

I have always found such tranquility walking in cemeteries, thanks to my fathers insight at a young age about life and death, for it is the two certainties of life that we cannot escape from. I find that my connection to spirit becomes even stronger down at the forgotten patches where loved ones headstones are visited no more, instead, mother nature has taken over and brings life in another form to ensure that the forgotten are not alone. The stone masonry that can be seen are so exquisite, each with loving words chiseled into them, that it takes my breath away, especially the sculptures. Calmness washes over me as I bid each tombstone that I photograph a “hello” and a “thank you”. I always pay respect when in such locations and ponder on the lives these individuals have lived and why, in some cases, they are no longer visited.
